We walked an extended version of the classic Kjalvegur trail at the end of August. The rough landscapes beneath the Langjökull and his foothills gives you a good sense of the grandeur of the Icelandic Highlands. I highly recommend you to extend the walk at least around the southern side of Bláfell...
