Iceland is a land of contrasts. As we left the sandy plains of Dyngjusander to climb towards Dyngjufjalladalur we were immersed in thick snow drift. Like so often before the other world around completely disappeared. But we were prepared as we saw this weather the days before from our camp at Svartábotn. We even utilized the fresh snow to our advantage in the porous and desert like environment by melting our drink water.
