A visit to a seldomly visited area of the Dyngjufjöll: Fjárhólar, a pass called Eystraskarð and the rounded mountain Kollur which is the second highest point of the Norðurfjöll. The Norðurfjöll rise steep in a tectonic fault from the lava plains of Útbruni and Fjárhólar. A very good vantage point above the lava fields of the central Ódáðahraun and into the oldest of the three intricated calderas of the Dyngjufjöll, also the least well known due to its inaccessability. The Kollur caldera presented itself completely filled with snow, impossible to see any interesting features...
