Vikrahraun, the lavafield of pumice, was our last destination before heading back to the Dreki huts. It is another bizarre feature of Ódáðahraun, an ordinary lava field of black basalt drowned in bright yellowish pumice. Only the highest ridges and pillars of the black lava protrude the masses of pumice. With a bit of luck we were able to enjoy its golden shine in the evening light of a very fine day.
